Bryan's Story PDF  | Print |
Photo of Bryan Cook.
Ever since Bryan Cook first picked up a pencil it was clear he had been blessed with artistic talents. At just 22 months-old, instead of scribbling and swinging his pencil across the page, he drew trains with closed shapes and smoke billowing from the stacks. Now, at 23-years-old, Bryan continues to exercise his skills by primarily making art related to another type of vehicle - race cars.

Born and raised in Miami Springs, Florida, Bryan took in a world of color and vibrancy. In fact, when he was about 10-years-old, it was the color and excitement of a night-out at the Sunshine Speedway with his uncle Steve that instilled in him a passion for auto-racing. It’s a passion that remains with him to this day. All aspects of the sport captivate him, but he first fell in love with it as an artist.

From that point on, Bryan would soak-in everything about auto-racing that he could and often translated his joy for the sport onto paper. But he wasn’t only a fan, he also raced a 1978 Camaro owned by his dad at the local Hialeah Speedway for a few seasons, winning races and Rookie of the Year before he even had a driver’s license. Never able to separate art and racing, Bryan would design the paint scheme on his race car. In addition to this, he used a NASCAR simulator on his home computer to compete online against competitors from around the world - even professional drivers such as Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Denny Hamlin, Hank Parker, and more! Bryan spent two seasons in Dale Jr’s online racing league, the DMP Series.

After graduating high school, there was only one place for him to go - Charlotte, North Carolina - the Hollywood, CA of American Auto-Racing. So in 2003, Bryan left family, friends, and familiarity, for a shot at making a name for himself in NASCAR-country.

Now, having lived in Charlotte for five years, Bryan is finishing his art degree at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and working as a lead paint-scheme designer for one of the big NASCAR Sprint Cup teams. He has established himself as a top artist with an expansive portfolio. Perhaps his greatest accomplishment has been designing the paint schemes on over 25 Sprint Cup, Nationwide, and Craftsman Truck Series race cars with no signs of slowing down. All the while, Bryan has been developing a unique and fascinating approach to creating beautiful NASCAR-themed fine art that he is proud to unveil through his website BryanCook.com.

He is quickly becoming noticed for his artistic skill within the NASCAR world and is clearly poised to add his name as one of the great auto-racing artists.

I am thrilled to have gotten to chance to live my dreams and I’m excited about what the future holds. Without a doubt, none of this would’ve been possible without the love and kindness of God, who gave me a fixed and ever-expanding life through Jesus Christ. He also gave me a loving family and has guided my steps by giving me incredible friends and favor along the way. When you think about it, making art (especially art about race cars) can seem pretty silly and pointless. However, God’s a creator and because He was silly enough to care about beauty, I can enjoy Him through capturing that beauty on canvas. And for that I am very grateful. - Bryan Cook
